Match v. Crowborough

Posted by Martin Powys-Lybbe on 1 May 2014

The Away match against Crowborough on April 28 brought the resurrection of a player believed lost to the club, Phil Lloyd.  Such was the warmth and firmness of his promise to rejoin the club as soon as Alan "Will Phil ever pay up?" Davies issued the subscription notices that I had no hesitation in selecting him for the men's pair.  Partnered by Michael Rusling (victor with Simeon Lee in the Knockout a fortnight before) they summarily dispatched the opposition.

Our ladies could not repeat their victory in the Knockout, losing 6-3, 6-4.  Catherine has now rightly decided to forsake her family and The Coach and Horses while she concentrates on adding reliability to her ferociousness.  She is looking for target practice this Sunday, so come along and get bashed.

Alex Ayton once again answered the call of duty.  At least this time she had a decent partner, George Lee, rather than the geriatric team captain.  They lost the second set only in the tiebreak.
